Animals with Special Needs

Perhaps you have a special place in your home for an ARF dog or cat with special needs? Or perhaps you have a special place in your heart to make a donation to ARF’s Hope Fund to help these and other ARF animals like them?

ARF’s Hope Fund helps pay for veterinary and other special needs of animals rescued by ARF's rescue patrol. Helping these abandoned animals is an important part of ARF's mission. Although the expense may be cost prohibitive for these ARF shelter guests, the transformation is nothing short of a miracle. Only through your generous donations can ARF continue this life-enriching work.

Eureka 2-year-old Eureka is a sweet and snuggly girl who likes to play. She will benefit from continued socialization to help her get used to the sights and sounds around her. Eureka is rated for homes with children five years and older.

Don Sandino 4-year-old Don Sandino is a friendly and easygoing fellow. FELINES WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
Available Now for Adoption!

Lucy
5-year-old Lucy is a darling little girl who is looking for a quiet home. She will need a little time to get use to her new home, as she is on the shy side. Once Lucy is settled in, she will become your instant companion. Lucy must be an indoor only cat. Lucy is diabetic, so will require a daily injection.

Polarbear
7-year-old Polarbear is a cuddle bug who wants nothing more than your affection. He is looking for a family that will groom him regularly as well give him tons of love! Polarbear needs to be an indoor only cat. Polarbear has diabetes, which is controlled with a special diet

Christian
4-year-old Christian is one loving cat who likes to tell you how he feels. He enjoys being held and getting as much attention as possible. If you are looking for one loveable guy, look no further! MUST BE INDOORS ONLY. He is suitable for a first time cat owner. Christian is a Personal Assistant.

Scrimmage

5-year-old Scrimmage has lots of love to share and is very sweet girl. This sweetheart is a special needs kitty because she is diabetic and declawed in front. Since she’s been declawed, it would be best if she were in a home with another declawed cat or very gentle, non-aggressive cat. Also, this would necessitate that she be an indoor cat ONLY. She is a very gentle girl who lives for affection and is easy to give her insulin.

FELINES WITH FIV*
Available Now for Adoption!

Sasha
1-year-old Sasha is a quiet girl looking for a calm home. She needs a family that is going to spend a lot of time with her to help her come out of her shell. Sashais FIV positive and will need to be INDOOR ONLY. She would appreciate a calm, quiet household.

*Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)

FIV is a virus in the same family of viruses as Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). FIV is a cat-only disease and people cannot catch FIV from their cats. FIV is only spread between cats by bite wounds and blood transfusions. FIV cannot be spread casually - unless an FIV kitty bites another cat, the virus cannot spread. There is no reason cats with FIV should not be in loving homes. FIV cats can often live long and normal lives. Some cats live a long time with this virus, often with no symptoms at all. FIV cats have a lot to offer a family and should not prevent a delightful feline from coming into a loving home.
